Alas, alas, you are 40 now your 30s are truly behind, you fight to retain your figure and brain cells flee from your mind. You could take lots of vitamins to try and keep your youth, or start wearing false things and cap each dying tooth. But, worry not about the above - treat it all as trivia, no matter how you decompose old friends will always forgivya. They will always see you as you were so your youth you'll never lose, maybe it's time to abandon sex and cut down on the booze?

Then and Now
You have enjoyed your years so far and sit in quiet reflection but changes happening to your mind promotes panic for resurrection. You want to tie your shoes and wash the car run up the stairs and then without thought carry a pile of stuff and run down those stairs again. Viewing other towns and countries on TV within your home gives a yearning to revisit places you were once so free to roam. Now all the fuss at airports and the long trek to the plane precludes a once world traveller from ever going abroad again. Pathos and unfairness brings on tears you try to hard to hide confused emotions spar with anger and you suppress the pain inside. There was a day when a beer fixed it all and conscience was something rare when all that mattered were results and thoughts of others weren't there. But treat yourself kindly old man you are entirely free to choose to forgive the way you lived before and stop hitting on the bruise.
Non-Stop Anguish
It's been a year since he went and Rare is the day he doesn't come to mind We wonder if we could have done more But would vet heroics have been kind? It's best to believe that there is a plan With pre-set lights that blink on When the beast or person is due to leave And it's been planned all along. We should not stress the moment Of what to do when those lights are lit Get an ease of mind that tells us There is nothing you can do about it.
Take my Arm
I will wait until your winter has gone
Until the pieces fall into place
Until the cold winds are all blown away
And you move on with the sun on your face.
Bad times need only be temporary
If you can call on good friends
They guide you across the furrows and
Ease the load while your hurting mind mends.
Later you will be so much stronger
When new resolve comes to stay
I am here till your springtime comes
And your winter has gone away.
